Preswylfa gref yw Duw

(Duw yn dragwyddol)
  Preswylfa gref yw Duw
    I'w blant o oes i oes,
  Er cymmaint yw eu bai,
    Er trymed yw eu croes;
Tragwyddol fraich Creawdr byd
A'u ceidw rhag dinystriol lid.

  Cyn lledu llèni'r nef,
    Na ffurfio llwythau'r llawr,
  Cyn gosod sêr i droi
    Yn yr eangder mawr,
Na llunio'r un creadur byw,
O dragwyddoldeb Ef oedd Duw.

  Cyn canu'n beraidd fwyn
    O'r sêr boreol draw,
  Cyn chael o Gabriel bêr
    Mo'r delyn yn ei law,
Dedwyddwch perffaith, hedd di drai,
Oedd Ffynnon cariad yn fwynhau.

  Pan gryno seiliau'r byd,
    Pan syrthio'r ser yn llu,
  Y lleuad wen yn waed,
    A'r haul fel sachlen ddû,
Yr un fydd Ceidwad dynolryw,
Diddechreu a diddiwedd yw.

  Mor fyr yw oesoedd maith
    Gerbron tragwyddol Fôd!
  Ei oes heb fesur sydd,
    Diderfyn yw ei glod:
Mil o flynyddoedd maith, neu ddydd,
Yn debyg yn ei olwg sydd.
dinystriol lid :: tragwyddol lid
Ef oedd Duw :: y mae Duw
Mo'r delyn :: Y delyn

(God as eternal)
  A strong dwelling-place is God
    To his children from age to age,
  Despite how great is their fault,
    Despite how heavy is the cross;
The eternal arm of the Creator of the world
Shall keep them from destructive wrath.

  Before spreading the curtain of heaven,
    Or forming the tribes of earth,
  Before setting the stars to turn
    In the great expanse,
Or fashioning any living creature,
From eternity He was God.

  Before the sweet, pleasant singing
    From yonder morning stars,
  Before getting from sweet Gabriel
    The harp in his hand,
Perfect happiness, unebbing peace,
Was a Fount of love enjoying.

  When the foundations of the world shook,
    When the stars fell as a host,
  The white moon as blood,
    And the sun like black sackcloth,
The same will be the Saviour of humankind,
Unbeginning and unending he is.

  How short are vast ages
    Beside the eternal Being!
  His age is without measure,
    Unending is his esteem:
A thousand long years, or days,
Similar in his sight are.
destructive wrath :: eternal wrath
He was God :: he is God
